#GCCWaterPolo -- The final seedings for the 2022 Golden Coast Conference Men's Water Polo Championships came down to the final day and even the final quarter of the regular season. As the dust settles, the 2022 regular season co-champions, No. 7 Pacific and No. 6 Long Beach State earned the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, respectively.
2022 GCC Men's Water Polo Championships Seedings + Bracket
Pacific (19-6, 4-1) and Long Beach State (20-8, 4-1) finished atop the GCC standings. The Tigers earn the top-seed with a 15-12 win in the head-to-head match-up with the Beach back on Oct. 8. Both earn a bye to the GCC Championships semifinals. The Championships run from Nov. 18-20 at UC Santa Barbara's campus pool. Tickets are on sale here >>.
Rounding out the seeding is No. 3 UC Santa Barbara (13-12, 3-2), No. 4 UC Irvine (14-12, 2-3), No. 5 Pepperdine (13-13, 2-3) and No. 6 San Jose State (10-15, 0-5). UC Irvine and Pepperdine tied for fourth in the final standings and the Anteaters earn the No. 4 seed thanks to a 12-10 win over the Waves on Nov. 5.
The 2022 GCC Men's Championships begin on Friday, Nov. 18 with a pair of first round games. Game one features a remeatch of that Nov. 5 match-up between No. 4 UC Irvine and Pepperdine at 5 pm, followed by game two featuring No. 3 UCSB and No. 6 San Jose State.
Semifinal action will take play on Saturday, Nov. 19. Semifinal #1 features No. 1 Pacific taking on the winnner of UCI/Pepperdine at 5 pm. Semifinal #2 features No. 2 Long Beach State taking on the winner of UCSB/SJSU at 7 pm.
The championship game is Sunday, Nov. 20 at 2 pm with the winner earning the automatic bid to the National Collegaite Water Polo Championships.
