SAN JOSE, Calif -- Tied 5-5 at the half, No. 10 UC Santa Barbara outscored No. 14 San Jose State 9-3 in the second half to earn a 14-8 road win in Golden Coast Conference action Saturday afternoon.

Danny Roland made 12 saves for the Gauchos (12-11, 2-1) while nine different players got on the scoreboard. Colton Gregory led the team with three tallies, followed by two each from Dash McFarland, Tommy Hawkins, and Sam Nangle. Bende Pardi led San Jose State (10-12, 0-3) with three goals.
The game began with four lead changes and six ties as the teams traded goals and defensive stops. San Jose State led 2-1 after an Erik Duesund goal in the first quarter and then Pardi scored with 6:29 to play in the third quarter to make it 6-5. UCSB had leads of 1-0, 3-2, 4-3 and 5-4 and found themselves down to start the third.
Trailing 6-5, UCSB took over. They scored five unanswered to take a 10-6 with 6:29 to play in the fourth.
The run started with McFarland, who tied the game at 6-6 with 6:16 to play in the third quarter. Nangle gave them the lead for good, 7-6, with 3:29 to play in the quarter. Colton Gregory scored back-to-back goals and Nangle scored again to end the run.
The teams traded goals before UCSB scored the final three of the game for the final margin.
