IRVINE, Calif. -- No. 4 seed San Jose State received 14 saves from first-team All-GCC goaie Yahav Fire and used a six-goal second quarter to lift them to a 10-8 win over No. 5 seed Pepperdine in game two of the 2021 Golden Coast Conference Men's Championships at Anteater Aquatics Complex Friday night.

The win advances the Spartans (16-14) to their first GCC semifinal appearance in the GCC Championships as they will face top-seed Long Beach State in the second semifinal on Saturday at 7 pm.
Fire allowed just the eight goals on 40 Pepperdine shots and added three steals. SJSU's defense help them build an 9-4 lead into the third quarter and then hold the Waves at arms length the rest of the way. Seven different Spartans scored in the game with a pair of goals from Marko Radanovich, Bence Szabo, and Niels Hofmeijer. Pepperdine (14-13), were led by John Claude Marco with 12 saves.
Jake Howerton and Kaden Kaneko had two goals each for the Waves.
Pepperdine held a 2-1 lead headed into the second quarter and the game was tied at 4-4 after Sean Ferrari scored with 2:55 to play in the second. The Spartans then rattled off five straight goals to put them into the semifinals.
