RIVERSIDE, Calif. — No. 7 Loyola Marymount extended its dominance in Golden Coast Conference play with a 14-7 victory over No. 21 California Baptist on Friday at Lancer Aquatic Center, earning them the 2026 GCC regular season title.
The win secured LMU’s third consecutive GCC regular season championship and extended its conference winning streak to 22 matches dating to April 1, 2023. The Lions have also won 15 straight overall and clinched the No. 1 seed for the upcoming GCC Championships, set for April 10-12 in Fresno. California Baptist will enter as the No. 4 seed, with full brackets to be announced Saturday.
Loyola Marymount (21-3, 6-0 GCC) set the tone early, scoring four times in the opening period and never relinquishing control. The Lions added three goals in both the second and third quarters before closing with four more in the fourth.
Anna Tarantino led the offensive effort with four goals, while Brooke Tora Gil added three. Chelsea Isaac and Carolina Magano each scored twice, and Noa Sasover, Emison Styris and Athena Ayers contributed one goal apiece.
California Baptist (13-10, 3-3 GCC) responded with a strong push in the middle quarters, scoring four goals in the second and three in the third to cut into the deficit. Niya Bumbaca paced the Lancers with three goals, while Emmie Ramirez, Madison Haworth and Bella Raynes each added one.
Defensively, LMU goalkeeper Madison Searle recorded 12 saves, helping limit CBU to a .219 shooting percentage. The Lancers’ goalkeepers, Amelia Urry and Kendall Donahue, combined for six saves.
LMU was outshot by CBU 32-24 but capitalized with a .583 shooting percentage and scored in every period to maintain control throughout.
