Lancers Pickup Thrilling Road Win

No. 23 California Baptist defeated No. 19 Pacific, 13-11, to snap 13-game skid to Tigers.

STOCKTON, Calif. — No. 23 California Baptist rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat No. 19 Pacific, 13-11, on Sunday in Golden Coast Conference action at Chris Kjeldsen Pool, snapping a 13-game losing streak against the Tigers that dated to 2014.

The Lancers (13-9, 3-2) erased a two-goal halftime deficit with a five-goal third quarter and held off Pacific down the stretch to secure their first win over the Stockton-based program in more than a decade.

Pacific (9-8, 1-3) surged ahead in the second quarter, outscoring California Baptist 5-1 to take a 7-5 lead into halftime after trailing 4-2 at the end of the first.

California Baptist responded with its strongest stretch in the third, scoring five times to regain a 10-8 lead. Goals from Niya Bumbaca, Reese Beringer and Emmie Ramirez fueled the rally, while Madison Haworth and Bella Raynes added key scores late in the period.

Ramirez led all scorers with five goals, including two in the final quarter to help seal the win. Julia Almendariz and Beringer each added two goals for the Lancers.

Pacific stayed within striking distance in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to one goal twice. Eleni Ikonomou led the Tigers with four goals, while Sophie Pethers and Laia Marsinach Ortega each scored twice.
