FRESNO, Calif. — No. 13 Fresno State broke open a tight match with an eight-goal third period to defeat the California Baptist 20–8 on Friday at the Fresno State Aquatics Center in Golden Coast Conference action.
With the win, Fresno State improved to 12-9 overall and 3-1 in GCC play, while California Baptist fell to 12-9 and 2-2 in league action.
The teams were competitive early, with Fresno State holding a 4–2 lead after the first period and extending it to 8–4 at halftime. The Bulldogs then took control in the third, outscoring the Lancers 8–1 to put the match out of reach.
Kira Anderson and Charley Stephens led Fresno State with four goals, while Alice Johnson and Hailey Andress each contributed three points. Megan Cranley also had two assists in the balanced attack.
For California Baptist, Emmie Ramirez paced the offense with four goals on a team-high 10 shots. Delilah Moreno and Reese Beringer each added a point, while Ivana Malenkovic also scored.
Fresno State finished with a .588 shooting percentage compared to .242 for California Baptist, converting 20 of 34 shots. Goalkeeper Katelyn Mobley earned the win with five saves.
