FRESNO, Calif. -- No. 8 Fresno State Bulldogs secured a convincing 18-6 victory over the Azusa Pacific in Golden Coast Conference action at the Fresno State Aquatics Center on Saturday. The Bulldogs scored five goals in the first period alone in jumping out to a 6-1 lead and never looked back in senior day win.
Abbey Simshauser led Fresno State (11-7, 5-1) with an impressive five goals and two assists for a seven-point day, while Sidney Strickland added four to the tally. The Bulldogs remain tied for second with Pacific in the GCC standings, one game behind LMU entering the final week of the regular season. Fresno State travels to Pacific next Friday for a big showdown in GCC play.
Azusa Pacific (15-14, 2-5) struggled to keep pace with the Bulldogs throughout the game. The Cougars managed to find the back of the net six times, with Jessie Nelson being the standout scorer for APU, netting two goals.
It was the final GCC matchup for the Cougars, who are currently in sixth place.
