LMU Remains Perfect in GCC

No. 11 LMU earns 14th straight regular season win in GCC play with 17-7 victory over Santa Clara.

LOS ANGELES -- No. 11 Loyola Marymout earned a 17-7 win over Santa Clara in Golden Coast Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Burns Aquatics Center. The win keeps the Lions perfect in GCC play this season and is their 14th straight win in conference regular season play.

LMU (15-11, 5-0) was led by a trio of players with five points. Yanah Gerber led with four goals and assits. Ruth Arino Ruiz had three goals and assists, while Sophia DeMattia had two goals and three assits to keep LMU unbeaten in the GCC. The Lions went 7-0 in regular season play last season and last lost on Apr. 1, 2023 to No. 9 Fresno State, 10-7.

Santa Clara's Sydney Maccabe had a three-point day with two goals and an assist. Megan Chambliss added to goals for the Broncos (4-13, 0-4). 

The Lions scored the games first five goals and led 10-3 at the break to push the to their fifth conference win. The Lions are off next week, but with a win on April 12 at San Diego State, the Lions can clinch a share of their second straight GCC regular season title.
