SAN DIEGO -- With the game tied 6-6 halfway through the third quarter, No. 9 Fresno State scored five straight goals to lift them to a 15-9 win over No. 20 San Diego State in Golden Coast Conference action at the Aztec Aquaplex on Saturday afternoon.
The teams were going toe-to-toe when Claudia Valdes tied the game at 6-6 with 3:45 to play in the third quarter. From there, Fresno State took over, scoring five straight goals in just over three minutes to take control of the game. Fresno State (10-7, 4-1) outscored San Diego State (13-10, 3-1) 9-3 the last 11 minutes of the game.
Balance was the key for the Bulldogs. During the five-goal run, five different players scored, including Hailey Andress, Abbey Simshauser, Megan Cranley, Brooke Ochoa, and Ashley Williams. Andress led the Bulldogs with three goals, with Ochoa, Simshauser, Elisa Grim, Caitlyn Mossman and Williams adding two each.
Sydney Gish, Shannon Murphy, Claudia Valdes had two each for San Diego State.
