Bulldogs Remain Perfect in GCC Play

No. 6 Fresno State earns 15-6 road win over California Baptist Saturday.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- No. 6 Fresno State earned a 15-6 win over No. 24 California Baptist at the Lancer Aquatic Center Saturday afternoon, remaining perfect in Golden Coast Conference action after three games.

Fresno State's (9-6, 3-0) Abbey Simshauser led the charge with an impressive four goals while adding two assists for a six-point game. The Bulldogs also had support from Brooke Ochoa with three goals and Megan Cranley contributing two. Notably, Kira Anderson and Hailey Andress also made significant contributions, each scoring two goals.

California Baptist (9-13, 0-3) had a strong showing from Dora Lehoczky and Kyra Kahahawai, who both found the net twice. Despite their efforts, the Lancers struggled to keep pace with the Bulldogs throughout the match, failing to score in the third period.

Fresno State's defense was bolstered by goalie Ida Tully-Giles, who made ten saves, while CBU's Tyanna Schneider had an outstanding game in goal with 15 saves but couldn't fend off the relentless Bulldog offense.

The scoring breakdown saw Fresno State netting four in the first and fourth quarters, and five in the second, while California Baptist managed two goals in the first and second quarters and found the net twice more in the fourth, ultimately falling short in the GCC action.
