STOCKTON, Calif. -- No. 12 Pacific displayed efficient offense throughout the day, posting a 19-8 win over Azusa Pacific in Golden Coast Conference action on Saturday afternoon. The win secures the No. 3 seed for the Tigers in the upcoming GCC Championships.
The Tigers (20-7, 5-2) went 9-for-13 on the powerplay (.692) and finished the day hitting on 19 of their 31 shots (.613). Briana Utas led the with five goals and two steals. Hila Futorian capped a big weekend with four points, scoring three goals with an assist. She had a career-best six goals in the win over Concordia on Friday.
APU (14-11, 2-5) finish sixth in the GCC standings. Kyra Kahahawai finished with four goals to lead the Cougars.
After APU scored first, Pacific scored the next five to take over the game. They led 5-1 and then scored five more unanswered to take a 10-2 lead.
The two teams will face each other in the GCC Championships in game one on Friday, Apr. 28 at 10 am from the Aztec Aquaplex in San Diego.
