Bulldogs Coast to Outright Title

No. 8 Fresno State defeats Santa Clara, 17-4, to claim outright GCC regular season title.

No. 8 Fresno State earned a 17-4 win over Santa Clara in the Golden Coast Conference finale on Saturday. The win give the Bulldogs their second straight unbeaten season in league play and gives them the GCC reglar season title outright. They have won three in a row.

Fresno State (15-8, 7-0) scored the game's first four goals and led 9-1 halfway through the third quarter to secure their back-to-back-to-back championship. Jillian Schultz led Fresno State with four goals with Kelsey McKenney adding three. Santa Clara (10-19, 1-6) hit on just 4-of-21 shots on the day and were led by Hailey Seed's two goals.

Fresno State will be the top seed in the upcoming GCC Championships and will face No. 8 California Baptist in game four on Friday, Apr. 28 at the Aztec Aquaplex in San Diego. Game time is 4 pm.

Santa Clara is the No. 7 seed and will face No. 2 LMU in game two at Noon.
