STOCKTON, Calif. -- No. 12 Pacific used a fast start, a strong finish and a seven-point day from Hila Futorian to earn a 15-8 win over Concordia in Golden Coast Conference action on Friday afternoon.
The Tigers (19-7, 4-2) opened the game with a 5-1 lead after the first period, and holding on to a one-goal lead at the end of the third, went on to score the game's final six goals for the 15-8 win. Futorian led the offense with six goals, an assist and a steal. Goalie Clara Vulpisi allowed just one goal in the first quarter and posted a shutout in the fourth quarter, finishing with 13 saves, two steals and .619 save percentage.
Concordia (15-14, 3-4), who trailed 7-2 early, managed to come-from-behind and cut the lead to 8-7 and 9-8 but they could get no closer. Six different Golden Eagles scored, including two from Kim Reidel and Madison Ravelo. Goalie Tatiana Cava finished with 14 saves as Pacific outshot CUI 34-27.
The Golden Eagles wrap-up conference play with their most GCC wins since joining the league. Pacific will finish conference play Saturday against Azusa Pacific at 1 pm.
