RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific earned a 17-15 win over California Baptist in Golden Coast Conference play Saturday morning.
With the game tied at 13-13 after three quarters, APU (14-9, 2-3) doubled-up the Lancers (14-16, 0-5) in the fourth quarter, 4-2, for the win. The teams combined to go 10-for-18 on the 6-on-5, with CBU going 6-for-9 and APU hitting on 4-for-9.
Madeline Schultz scored back-to-back goals to open the final quarter, giving APU a 15-13 lead with 3:43 to play. Her first came at the 6:17 mark on a five-meter penalty shot and then again three minutes later on an even-strength goal. Kyra Kahahawai scored the Cougars third straight to make it 16-13 on a 6-on-5 goal with 2:50 to play.
Melinna Galbraith scored on the next possession to cut the lead to 16-14. Schultz answered right back with her third of the period to make it 17-14 with 2:08 to play.
Kyndall Burrell scored with :52 left on a 6-on-5 goal for the final margin.
