SAN DIEGO -- No. 8 Fresno State used defense to claim another road victory in Golden Coast Conference on Saturday afternoon, defeating No. 23 San Diego State, 13-5. Paula Nieto Jasny made 10 saves with two steals in the win.

Brooke Ochoa had another multiple-point game for the Buldogs (9-7, 2-0), earning four points, scoring three goals and an assist. Jillian Schultz added three goals for Fresno State and Hailey Andress added two. Five different players scored for the Aztecs (3-10, 0-1).

Fresno State jumped out to a fast start, jumping out to a 4-0 lead and never looking back. They pushed the lead to 9-2 with 3:17 to play in the third quarter. 

The defense posted a shutout in the third quarter and only allowed a single goal in the first and second quarters.

Fresno State has now won five in a row on the season and have won 12 straight regular season GCC match-ups dating back to March 27, 2021 when they fell to SDSU.
