No. 16 LMU used a shutout third quarter to pull away from California Baptist in Golden Coast Conference action on Friday afternoon, earning a 13-8 victory.

Marialena Seletopoulou scored four goals and Kelsey Snelgar scored three goals with an assist to lead LMU (9-12, 4-0). Ruth Arino Ruiz finished with six points scoring a goal with a team-best five assists. Goalie Madison Davis finished with a .533 save percentage and put up a shutout in a key third quarter.

Jamie Hutton led CBU (14-14, 0-3) with four goals. 

The game went back-and-forth early with CBU taking a 2-1 lead with 4:03 to play in the first quarter. LMU answered with back-to-back goals from Seletopoulou and Alexandra Akritidou to take a 3-2 lead with 2:15 to play in the opening quarter.

Offense continue to dominate the opening frame as Hutton tied the game at 3-3 with :41 left and Mollie Williams gave LMU the 4-3 lead with just :10 left. The Lions would not trail again.

Seletopoulou scored to open the second quarter and the Lions scored four of the first five goals in the frame to take an 8-4 lead. 

Back-to-back goals from Hutton cut the lead to 8-6 at the half.

The Lions then took control as they kept CBU off the scoreboard and added two more to their tally on goals from Snelgar and Isabella Barajas to make it 10-6 going into the fourth. LMU added another before CBU would answer. They would get no closer.
