GLENDORA, Calif. -- Concordia's Madison Ravelo finished the day with seven points to lead the Golden Eagles to a 14-12 win over Azusa Pacific in overtime on Tuesday afternoon. CUI outscored APU 3-1 during the extra frames to earn a big road win in Golden Coast Conference action.
Trailing by two, 11-9, with just under six minutes to play, Azusa Pacific tied the game on goals from Madeline Schultz (5:01) and Kura Kahahawai (:49) to send the game to overtime. CUI then score the first three goals of overtime, two from Ravelo, to claim the win. Tatiana Cava had 12 saves.
Ravelo finished with five goals and two assists on the day for CUI (13-8, 2-1). Reidel and Tamsyn Evezard had three goals each. Evezard and Emly Tucker had four-point days. Tucker had four assists.
Kahahawai, Schultz, Maritza Ochoa, and Maria Boix Pascual each had two goals for APU (12-8, 1-2).
The game was close throughout. CUI build and early 2-0 lead and after APU tied it at 2-2, scored three straight to make it 5-2 and led 6-4 at the start of the second quarter.
APU then scored three straight, the final goal of the run coming from Alyssa Perez to take a 7-6 lead with 1:07 to play in the half. Ravelo would score with just :10 reamining to send the game to halftime even at 7-7.
The teams would go back-and-forth with ties happening at 8-8, 9-9 and then 11-11 to end regulation.
