RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- After a pair of comeback bids by host California Baptist, No. 14 Pacific scored the final three goals of the game to earn a hard-fought 14-11 win over the Lancers in Golden Coast Conference action on Friday afternoon in Riverside.

The Tigers (14-4, 1-0) had a pair of three-goal leads (3-1, 11-8) only to see the Lancers (13-12, 0-2) fight back to tie the game. The Lancers would never lead in the game. Pacific's Hila Futorian led all scorers with five goals. Noemi Alaksza scored three goals, while Lucy Davis and Brianna Utas added two each as the Tigers earned their sixth straight win. 

Maddie Schwegler and Celeste Almendariz had three goals each to lead CBU.

Pacific jumped out to a 4-1 lead with Futorian scoredon a five-meter attempt with 2:02 to play in the first quarter. Back-to-back goals by the Lancers - the first by Schwegler and the second by Emaly Hutton - put the score at 4-3 after the first quarter.

The teams seemed to trade goals throughout the second quarter and CBU's Celeste Almendariz cut the lead to 8-7 with :29 left in the half. The Lancers would finally get the equalizer with the first goakl of the second half. Melinna Galbraith would tie the score on a 6-on-5 goal :47 into the third quarter.

Pacific would answer with three straight goals. Noemi Alaksza made 9-8, followed by Davis' goal to make it 10-8. Alaksza scored at the 2:58 mark of the third period to make it 11-8.

CBU wasn't finished. Cauleigh Carter scored to make it 11-9 and Schwegler made it 11-10 with :13 left in the period. Like they did to start the third quarter, CBU opened the fourth with the tying goal, this one from Jamie Hutton to make it 11-11 just :20 into the quarter.

From there it was all Pacific. Davis would score what would be the game winner on a 6-on-5 the next possession. Illyana Zlobinsky and Utas added insurance goals for the final margin.
