Tigers Cruise to Third Place Win

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - No. 16 and second-seed Pacific cruised to a 16-6 victory over No. 21 and fourth-seed San Diego State in the third place game of the 2022 Golden Coast Conference Women's Water Polo Championships on Sunday morning.

The Tigers (14-11) jumped out to a 6-2 lead and never looked back to claim third place. Mariana Duarte finished her career with the Tigers scoring four goals with an assist and three steals. Emma Myall, Szamira Koppany and Ana Martinez do Amaral had two goals each. Pacific goalie Clara Vulpisi had 15 saves, holding San Diego State to just six goals on 33 shots. 

San Diego State (13-17) was led by Delaney Binette with two goals. 

Pacific led 4-2 after the first quarter and stretch it to 7-3 at the break with Toula Falvey's goal with just 12 seconds left in the half. They kept the pressure, four more goals unanswered to go up 11-3 with 1:51 left in the third.
