Big Second, Defense Has Lions in Title Game

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The 18th-ranked and third-seeded LMU Lions exploded for five goals in the second quarter and used that to lift them to a 10-5 win over No. 16 and second-seed Pacific in the first semifinal of the 2022 Golden Coast Conference Women's Water Polo Championships on Friday afternoon. With the win, LMU advances to Sunday's championship game at 1 pm.

With the game tied at 2-2 early, LMU (16-11) scored four unanswered and six of the next seven goals to take a commanding 8-3 lead. They never looked back to return to their fifth GCC title game. 

Mollie Williams had three goals and Kelsey Snelgar had five points (a goal and four assists) to lead LMU, Pacific (13-11) was led by Toula Falvey and Ana Martinez do Amaral with two goals each. The Tigers will play in the third place game on Sunday at 11 am.

They wait the result of the second semifinal between top-seed Fresno State and No. 4 seed San Diego State.
