LOS ANGELES -- The Co-Newcomers of the Year continued impressive play to start day two of the Golden Coast Conference Women's Water Polo Championships. Fresno State's Emily Nicholson, despite double teamed most the day, scored five goals to lead the Bulldogs to an 11-4 win over Concordia in game six on Saturday morning.
Nicholson, who shared GCC Newcomer of the Year with California Baptist's Kira O'Donelll, added two steals as the Bulldogs (7-17) advance to face the Lancers in the fifth place game at 11 am Sunday. Concordia (5-18) had four different players score as they will face Santa Clara in the seventh place game at 9:15 am.
Fresno State scored the game's first three goals and then leading 6-3 broke the game open with the next five goals. During that run Nicholson scored four times.
