Defense Powers Lions to Semifinals

LOS ANGELES -- For 31 minutes and 56 seconds LMU held Santa Clara scoreless in the second game of the Golden Coast Conference Women's Water Polo Championships. The defense pushed them to an 8-1 win in game two, advancing them to Saturday's semifinal.

Goalie Claire Wright made 12 saves for the Lions and Morgan Molloy scored the first two goals of the game to set the tone for LMU (17-14). Gabi Scat scored Santa Clara's (12-17) lone goal with four seconds to play.

Abbey Grosse led the Lions with three goals and Lauren Owens had four steals to add to LMU's defense,

LMU will face San DIego State in the first semifinal on Saturday at 12:45 pm.
