LOS ANGELES -- San Diego State's Emily Bennett scored with 2:08 remaining in the game to lift the third-seeded Aztecs to a come-from-behind win over No. 6 seed California Baptist, 7-6, in game one of the 2018 Golden Coast Conference Women's Water Polo Championships.
Bennett led all scorers with three goals. Shelby Kraft added two goals for the Aztecs (14-15), who also got eight saves from Maura Cantoni. The Lancers (15-16) had six different players score and got seven saves from Grace Ramirez.
The Aztecs, who trailed into the third quarter, tied the game at 4-4 on a goal from Bennett. The Lancers would answer right back to take a 5-4 lead on a goal from Maddie Meza.
The teams would continue to trade goals as Kraft tied the game at the 3:34 mark of the third frame only to have the Lancers' Krista Krantz put CBU up 6-5 on the next offensive series.
Kraft would do it again, tying the game at 6-6 with 1:22 to play in the third to set-up the game winner.
The Aztecs advance to Saturday's first semifinal at 12:45 pm against the LMU/Santa Clara winner.
