Lions Win Regular Season Title

No. 6 LMU wins 18th straight game to finish unbeaten in GCC play.

LOS ANGELES - No. 6 LMU left little doubt to their first outright Golden Coast Conference regular season championship, scoring seven of the first eight goals on their way to a 15-5 win over Azusa Pacific on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions (25-2, 7-0), who won GCC tournament titles the first two season of the GCC in 2014 and 2015, finished the GCC campaign unbeaten and move their winning streak to 18. The Lions enter the 2024 GCC Championship as the No. 1 seed. They will play No. 8 seed Concordia in the first round on Friday. 

Ruth Arino Ruiz had another complete game for the Lions with seven points, scoring twice with five assists. Lior Ben David had a five-point day with a goal and four assists while Anna Tarantino had three goals and an assist, all in the Lions building a 7-1 lead. 

APU (15-12, 3-4) will be the No. 6 seed in the GCC tournament starting on Friday. Alexandra Akritidou, Kaelene De Bie and María Boix Pascual all had two points for APU.
 

ROAD TO THE GCC CHAMPIONSHIP

Tickets are on sale now for the 2024 Golden Coast Conference Championship. Santa Clara will host the three-day tournament April 26-28 at the Sullivan Aquatic Center. Brackets and seedings for the 2024 GCC Championship will be announced Saturday night. 

The tournament runs from Friday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28. General admission tickets are $15 for each day of action and will be treated as day passes. All ten (10) games of the GCC Championship will be streamed live on the internet by new GCC partner Overnght Media Group.
